On breaking up with friends...

A friend of mine recently did this in a big way (a confrontation) and I think she was right to do so. The friend she "broke up with" totally abused their relationship and constantly made her feel bad about herself. With friends like that, who needs enemies, right?

Yes, I've "broken up" with a friend or two here or there, and yes, I've had it done to me as well, and yes it sucks to be on either side of the situation, but it happens, right?

Have you ever broken up with a friend or had a friend call it off with you? Share!

(Raises hand) Yes, I'm guilty of this one...last few days of High School, planning our 'Schoolies' break away with friends. I let the excuse of her having glandular fever dominate the conversation when I told her she wasn't welcome.

Looking back now, it was an incredibly mean thing to do, but if I hadn't done it that way, it would have been another. I think I'd been looking for an excuse for a few months and took the first one that arrived...

Was always rather awkward walking past her at Uni...

Not my best moment :(

Well the only one that really comes to mind is Jill from high school....when I confirmed she slept with my boyfriend it was completely necessary to make her life living hell. I broke up with her in an awful way. haha.

Yes, I've had this happen a couple times and its never fun. I won't get into the gory details online, but in one case it was the best thing that ever could have happened (a very needy, unstable, sucks-the-life-out-of-you situation), and in the other I'm still bewildered and sad. I don't think about it much in my day to day life, but every now she shows up in dreams of mine and then I have these flashes of "WTF happened!?!?" because she was one of those people I thought I'd be friends with when we were in rocking chairs...I'm not really sure who "broke up" with who on that one - it was a very weird, drawn out sort of thing. Such is life, I guess. :(

I have done this with a very tozic friend. I was a chicken about it though, I did the "fade out". I just stopped answering her calls and suddenly felt a whole lot better about life.
