So did you actually teach these students that keep going to jail? I am trying to find a trend here & see if there is one constant that may be affecting these people...hahaha.
Yeah, I did. Well, when they came to class. I taught at an inner-city junior high when I came back to AL after Indiana. Two years o' notfun.
Very depressing place because of the ignorance they were coming from and how they just "didn't get" that they could rise above it. It was like talking to a wall.
Awww... (Sniff sniff) You are kind. (To all who don't know---Adriane was at SSHS when I taught there the first two years of my teaching career, back during the COLUMBINE crap!! I was so freaked out, of course. Adriane helped me figure out which way I'd run if something happened there. ;)

We had some bright spots, but I used to tell people I worked at a prep school for the dept of corrections. Charlotte
