An hour or so at the Y pool...

I took Luke to the pool this afternoon. I did this because I feel like Worst Mom in the World after he brought me a sad, deflated swim ring that he fished out of God-knows-where and said in a pitiful voice, "Pool, mama. Pool?"

"Okay..." I located his Swimmies and slid them on. He giggled because he knew THIS WAS SERIOUS. WE ARE REALLY GOING TO THE POOL! Then I slid on his orange bathing trunks and his shirt that said, "MY DAD ROCKS."

While at the pool, I noticed that kids like to talk to me. Kids say the most random, weird crap sometimes.

Here are some examples of what some strange children let me know today.

"My little cousin Caleb has a floatie like that one." (Really? Fascinating.)
"Did you know that Yu-Gi-Oh has a lady with a naked TOP?" (When the kid told me this, I quickly checked to see that my boob hadn't popped out of my top. I was safe. No boobage.)
"Your child is soaking wet." (Yeah, thanks Sherlock. He just got out of the freakin' pool.)

I got a little ticked when an ugly eight or nine-year-old girl splashed the heck out of Luke when he was just looking over at them--the big kids. I couldn't be sure that she aimed it directly AT my poor innocent baby or if she meant to hit him AND her other friends near the same area. All the same, I gave her a look that said, "If I catch you I'm gonna beat you." She saw my look and freaked out and swam away to the other end where I saw her splashing others. I'll be keeping an eye out for her.

Hmph.

I always think I must still have that teacher look or something because everywhere we go, kids seem to park nearby and tell me their life story. I guess there are worse things. :)

Girl, y'all can go over to our house and swim, if you don't want to deal with the crowds. The gate is unlocked (shhh). Help yourself! It's just sitting there while we're at work everyday.
