Labor Day Weekend

I drive by a sign all the time that advertises TRAPP CANDLES. The owners of this place have had that up for years. Every time I drive by, I wonder, "What in the hell are trapp candles?" So I finally looked it up.

I hate that the owners of Kid's Carousel use the apostrophe where they do. Is it one kid and his/her carousel? It should be Kids' Carousel, but I guess looking up proper punctuation is really just too much trouble. :) I did go this past Saturday and got a few pair of jeans, some sweaters, some shoes (size 8!) for the boy. I also picked up some Thomas wooden tracks and a Thomas foam puzzle. The line was extremely long, but friendly. I enjoyed listening to the conversations around me. The women next to me were discussing which show was creepier---Doodlebops or Lazy Town. I vote for Doodlebops being the creepier one. I watched a young pregnant gal, all decked out in her cute print dress and cute button nose find stuff. She hadn't reached the ugly stage of pregnancy yet. "Oh but it will happen," I thought wickedly. She was one of those gals who only gain in their belly. Like a fake pregnancy on tv. I also saw a few young dads or soon to be dads in there. It had to be their first time, because no man in his right mind would come back the second time. These fathers looked stunned at the mother mayhem going on in there. I almost felt sorry for them. I also saw some cute as heck baby babies. Their little toes looking like tiny corn kernels.

Luke is going around calling two action figures "mans" and his feet "feets". Cute.

Ran into two awesome people this weekend---a musician named Grover who is/was friends with my post-college boyfriend A. We ran into him at E@stside Grille (and yes, the food is just as bad as ever, but the outside area is nice). It was nice catching up with him and finding out what happened to some of the people I knew through him and the ex. It had been about 9 years since I'd seen him. Also ran into Charlotte B S! (heh heh BS!) in the parkinglot of a local grocery store. I was stunned to see her because she lives in South Carolina but she was in town visiting relatives and celebrating her boy's birthday. It was great seeing you, Char!

Sunday we finally made it to Alabaster to see and have a nice long visit with Nanny, my fabulous husband's grandmother. She is such a wonderful lady. We all went to lunch, then went to the park and stared at the ducks and watched Luke climb all over the playground equipment. We also paid a surprise visit to Max's parents, who lived a few minutes away. I hadn't seen them in ages, but it was like we just picked up where we left off. We had planned to do more visiting (Keith and Lindy and everyone on the "mountain") but I was feeling poorly so we took our butts back home. We will have to have a real plan in place, Keith, k? Maybe y'all can come see us for an AU game on the tv?

Today we have just taken naps (sweet!) while Harold and Da Barbster kept Luke for us. They even got his hair cut. Yay! Thanks guys.

We are sad about The Crocodile Hunter dying. I woke Chris up with the news. He thought I said "Steve Urkel died!"

Hey, y'all. Do me a favor. If you can't post using your blogger name, please post anonymously, using your name at the end. I'm hearing this is a problem. I hate Beta. I wish I could switch back, but you can't. :(

Here's my attempt to comment on your blog. Hope you feel better. I know Nanny enjoyed having ya'll come see her. Thank you for going to see her. You get extra points. My points are in the negative column. I have to get myself down there and see her.

Apostrophe's used in the wrong place's drive me crazy too. LOL

I had a similar cute pregnant girl experience once while I was looking at lamps in target while Z ran around crazy (WHY do I shop near naptime!?!?!?) anyway, I could totally tell she was thinking "My child will *never* do that" and the evil lisa was snickering to herself thinking, "You just wait, sister - its not all about accessorizing the nursery forever! Check back in about a year..." Mwah-ha-ha!! :)

Oh the stories I could tell about KC, too :) You ought to hear what I hear when I sit at the cash register for 4 hours :)

I was shocked about Steve Irwin, too but have to say that I have always thought it would be a matter of time for him. Even Jim Fowler made a little reference to him being more 'show' than an animal handler should be....but ended his story about him with a smile and chuckle saying he really like the guy and that he's definitely doing a lot of positive things for animal conservation.

I do feel for his wife and daughters... The whole thing is just so sad.

Anywho...........Get a TRAPP candle. They are expensive, but awesome.

Carrie, I switched to Beta because I'm a total idiot. I read about it, then thought, "Hey! They wouldn't put it out there as an upgrade if it didn't you know, UPGRADE you. Instead, it's like going backwards." I want to shoot someone.--Jen
