Movies, School, and Stuff

I finally saw Varsity Blues! It was Chris's turn to pick movies and he picked this and Weatherman. He had seen Varsity Blues before but I hadn't and he thought that was a shame, so yeah, we watched it. It was entertaining. Now I know where "panty droppers" came from at least! I hated James VB's fake Southern accent though. Ugh.
We also watched Nick Cage in The Weatherman. A very strange but cool movie---you have to hang in there with it. I loved his relationship with his daughter in this. The camel toe thing made us laugh and laugh. Go pick it up and tell me what you think.
Last week I finally finished Capote (by myself in the bedroom cuz Chris would have rather gotten naked and slid down a razor blade into a pool of rubbing alcohol). Okay... I liked the story, liked the subject, but the slowness of the movie really pissed me off. I still find it hard to believe (why? I have no idea) that Capote used Perry Smith, but I guess that's easier to stomach than the idea that he had a relationship with Smith (cuz he's a killer), right? I am looking forward to the next Capote movie, which should be a little better? Perhaps?Last weekend, Chris and I also headed out to the movie theatre (mainly to sit in the cool darkness) to see The Night Listener, but we were late, so we saw Talledega Nights instead. (Pretty different kind of movie, huh?). It was okay. Entertaining...I liked when Will Ferrell's jean shorts got joked on. "Like your jean shorts." "Shut up man!"
I guess that answers the jean short question once and for all! :)

I found a graphic novel of Macbeth today at Books-A-Million. They are only three dollars. Go get you one. It is cool as heck.

School starts tomorrow. I have six classes. One is Honors English 12. Three are reg. English 12 Lit and two are reg. English 12 Grammar. Three of the "regular" classes are inclusion classes. That means, for those out of the education loop, that special ed kids, autistic kids, deaf kids, etc. are put in those classes along with "normal" kids. In those three classes, I have a special education teacher in there with me. Whenever I have autistic kids (I have two this year) they have adult aides with them, so that's more adults in there with me. It gets kind of crowded. Good thing my biggest class is 26 and my smallest is 19.
I'm excited about meeting my new kids. Every year I can't comprehend loving my new classes as much as I did the previous classes, but I always do. (Give or take a few kids!)
OH, and I already got my lunch seating arrangement! I gots all my pals with me! (This is a hugeeee relief. 4 real.)
Teachers aren't so different from the kids, huh?

The Weatherman was a tough one to finish. It was just strange but so true to life. The camel toe thing was HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That poor poor girl.
Good luck tomorrow!!! Glad the lunch situation is, er, situated! :) I haven't seen Varsity Blues either, but I should. I love stuff like that, and bring on the Dawson's Creek memories!!! :) Oh, and Macbeth was always my favorite Shakespearean play - I should check out the novel. Cool!
The lunch arrangements..as in you sit with other teachers (peeps)? I wondered how that worked.
And my next door neighbor, the English teacher, is from Montgomery and asked me where you taught. And, uh, I can't remember now. I remember the old place. lol. Can you help me out? I have quizzed him like crazy on the workings of the school system and life as a teacher (anything I haven't gotten from your blog. lol).
Rhymes with pee, Sherri.
Got it. lol. Thank you!
I thought Capote was a snooze-fest...one monotonous tone stretched over two hours...overrated in my opinion.
