Sears N Shrek

I really dislike the whole game of going to pick up your kid's portraits and they go, "Oooh, look! They sent you some extra photos of your child!" (They let you admire them for a second.) "For only fifteen dollars extra you can have these."

This makes you: a)angry b)annoyed c)feel like a bad mom

All of the above because...
a)I hate selling tactics like this.
b) Just give me the portraits I ordered.
c) Of course I would want photos of my child. Especially knowing that if I say no, you are just gonna trash them. Makes my heart break a little...

But I said NO. I was more angry and annoyed than C. even though I did feel some of that.

Funny thing did happen at Sears...
I was shopping and wheeling Luke around in his stroller and he goes, "SHREK! Shrek, Mama!"
I didn't see anything Shrek around so I said, "Huh? Where's Shrek?"
He kept saying it. Finally I listened to the music playing in the store. It was Counting Crows' "Accidentally in Love". The first song on the Shrek 2 movie. My boy is a freakin' GENIUS.

I always felt, that when they offered more than the original package of pictures, they were holding my *child* hostage! I couldn't have the extra pics unless I paid for them. I find it a very unsatisfactory way of doing business.

I hate when they do that too. The worst one for me was last Mother's Day when they had the extra pictures with the Mother's Day poem on them. I had to buy those. I would have felt horrible if I didn't.

I made the mistake last time I had Jordan's pictures taken and went to WalMart. Nope, not doing that ever again. Even after the 10% employee discount (thanks Dad!) and the extra 8x10 for making me wait an hour after our appointment time to have the pictures taken I still paid the same amount I would have at Sears.

That reminds me....it's about time for some new pictures. I think I'll try to do that in the next couple of weeks.

And your little Luke sure is a smart cookie. Look who his parents are. ; )

lmao! I don't even know Luke that well and I'm proud of him. Getting his musical genius established already. Give me hope....

Ugh, I hate that stuff too. I never buy them - mostly because I've already bought them all out beforehand. ha ha Funny you should mention pictures here. We just had quite an "I AM TWO" experience at the Picture People last week. The boy was NOT interested in having his picture made. At. All. UGH. At least there you just choose and buy them all on the same day. But I always get flustered trying to sort out the "packages" vs "pay by the sheet" and what comes on which sheet. YIKES. This is why I'm a reading teacher and not a math person I guess.

Sorry, this should have been a blog entry for me, not a comment for you....

Well, I guess I'll be the odd ball here and say I like it when they put the extra sheets in there. For a few reasons: 1) if you pre-order them they would be more expensive 2) they are the different schemes, like black and white, sepia and they've done borders on some 3) it gives you another choice and something you might not have thought to order to begin with or were scared to order cause you didn't know if it would look good or not. I always remember they'll show me those extra sheets so I deduct from the sheets I order at the store so I don't wind up spending more than I really wanted to. It was around Mother's Day when we had Blake's 18 month pictures taken and they gave us one of those extra sheets for free. It had a cute little Mother's Day border. Anyway, to each their own! I like it! :)
