Playdate, Chimney Rock, and Dateline

This afternoon Luker had some friends over: Tomma and Randy's little man Blake (20 months old) and Gavin, who is 2 1/2 and is Jas's and Matt's son. At first Luke didn't know what to think. He followed the kids around with one hand in his jorts (jean shorts) for awhile, and then got busy with his little kitchen off to the side. Gavin showed up at the kitchen and they proceeded to surprise the other one by sticking their head in the toy microwave and going, "DAHHHHHH!!!!" Gavin and Luke didn't let Blake have too much fun--they kept grabbing stuff away from the little guy. Bless his heart. Finally, Blake gave them the finger and went to work on his own--enjoying the rocking horse and then the water table outside. It was a relaxing (imagine!) afternoon with all of the parents and kids out on the (cluttered) back porch. I can't wait until we can redo the backyard. It's so Samford and Son right now.

Matt entertained us with a funny story about Chimney Rock. (Otherwise known as The Rock That Scares Me). His funny story basically was this: he jumped off it when he was a teen because of peer pressure and he looked like he was flapping his wings as he went down.
Chris jumped off that thing when he was in his twenties (before I knew him) and he said it bruised his feet. He was lucky, I think. That ROCK IS SCARY!!!! You guys are nuts. Have you ever jumped off this thing or something like it??

Did anyone see Dateline tonight about the fugly woman who was scamming people with her unborn child? Telling them they could adopt it and taking money for living expenses, all along never planning to give it to them? I want to punch that girl in the face. I don't get all upset over Dateline normally, but this one made me so upset.

Yeah, I watched it. I'd like to have a little one on one time with her. See how far she gets with their money then. I knew the adoptive mom was still holding out for good news. I could really identify.

We had one adoption fall through before Jack (This birthmother truly decided to keep her baby, no fraud) after only being "matched" for a month. We "met" her in September. She changed her mind in October. We were chosen by Jack's birthmom in November. It was God's plan for us to have him, no doubt. Even after we had his room ready, I couldn't spend any great deal of time in there. It was just really emotional and frightening.

Our success story came through an adoption advertising/facilitator agency. We have developed a great friendship with them. If you know anyone who is looking for a good one, let Jen or me know. I can hook you up! We began the process and had Jack all in 8 months. That's less time than it takes most mothers to deliver their child.

If you happen to see that "Amy/Christy Chick," let me know. I wanna talk to her!

We had a good time, too! I think Matt gave Blake something though. He woke up coughing! Dang him! But we did get all the sand out of his hair from where Gavin poured a cupful on him! Geeze, what are we gonna do with these boys?! (And to think, I was thinking about getting Blake a sand box....now I know I don't want one! Thanks for helping me figure that one out! lol) Just wait, one day Blake will take control of the situation! lol Maybe next time, Cindy can bring Jack so Blake won't be the yougest! tehe

Again, thanks for having us!!

Tomma, that's a good idea--Jack must come next time! I didn't even know Matt was sick. He was?

Cindy, I thought about you the whole time I watched it. How cruel that woman (Amy/Christy/Trashyho) was. She earned a special place in hell for what she did to those women.

Tomma~

In elementary school, we get a small swimming pool and fill it with those balls like McDonald's has. We use it for reading corners. You can get the balls at party city or Toys R Us. Blake would probably love jumping in it with no mess. The balls are too big to fit in mouths.

I jumped off Chimney Rock when I was in high school (and insane). Yes, it was fun but would I do it now with all my worldly knowledge? Uh, no. (and I was kidding about the wordly knowledge). :)
